Why You Should REALLY Wash Your Lashes

Updated: Nov 17, 2020

If you haven’t already heard me standing on my soap box about washing your lashes you’re probably new here. In that case, welcome! I am excited to have you!

Let’s take a second to talk about the primary function of our eyelashes which is to keep dust, dirt, debris, and bacteria out of our eyes. You could say that naturally, our eyelashes are a pretty big deal! Now, add a foreign substance adhered to your lash called an eyelash extension.

Your lashes are still presenting the same role to make sure that our eyes stay clean BUT now all of that dirt, debris, and oil can get caught up between the extensions and our natural lashes and cause eye infections and bacteria overgrowths called Blepharitis. I will save you the gory details but do me a favor and do a Google search! Let’s all say YUCK.

Keeping your lashes clean for the health of your eyes isn’t the only reason you should be washing them. Eyelash extensions are a really big investment and when you wash them you are protecting that investment. When your natural oils get in between your natural lashes and the extensions your extension will fall off prematurely and your lashes will not last like they should. Bummer, right? You want to wash your lashes DAILY. Washing them (and washing them well) after you work out, swim, and right before your lash appointment are the most important thing you can do for your lashes!

If you are committing to eyelash extensions, then you are committing to the new daily habit of cleansing your lashes!
